For children ages 5-10. Stop by the Children’s Room to register in person starting June 15th!
Paws for Reading is a program that pairs licensed therapy dogs with children who need more confidence in their reading skills. Children learning to read can feel like they are being judged by classmates and adults but dogs do not judge! This allows for children to not only practice reading and speaking out loud, but gives them a chance to build confidence in their reading skills.
Each registered child will receive a ten minute session with a therapy dog and may read whatever book they would like. Please come with a book to read or come early in order to choose a book.
IMPORTANT:
In order to let as many children participate in the program as possible, the same child cannot register twice in the same month. We will cancel the registration of anyone who does not follow this rule.
We cannot hold your slot if you do not arrive on time. Time slots of no-shows may be given away. If you arrive late during your time slot and it has not been given away, you will only be allowed to read until the end of your registered time slot. 5 mintues late = 5 minutes of reading time.
