The exhibition and opening reception at the Glen Rock Public Library are free and open to the public. The exhibition is curated by the Friends of the Glen Rock Public Library, and runs through Saturday, Sept. 28.
Gabriele has displayed his artwork at galleries, libraries and museums for over 35 years. He’s a member of the executive board of Allied Artists of America, New York, the executive board of the Nutley Historical Society, and serves as the president of the Clifton Arts Center’s advisory board.
A 1975 graduate of Montclair State University, Gabriele’s pastels have been displayed at the prestigious Butler Institute of American Arts in Youngstown, Ohio, and the Salmagundi Club in New York, during the last four years as part of the annual juried exhibitions for Allied Artists of America.
His artwork was exhibited during the summer of 2021 at the Passaic County Arts Center’s John W. Rea House located in Hawthorne. The art galleries at the Berkshire Hathaway business offices in Montclair and Livingston hosted exhibits of his work during 2023 and 2022. The George Segal Gallery at Montclair State University selected his pastels five times for its annual “Art Connections” juried exhibition series, 2007-2016.
In addition to his work as an artist, Gabriele has written five books on New Jersey history, all published by The History Press. On Thursday, Sept. 19, 7 to 8:30 p.m., he will present a program and PowerPoint slideshow at the Glen Rock Public Library on his newest book, “Colonial Taverns of New Jersey.” Copies of the book will be on display and available for sale (cash only).
